Welcome to Part 2 of the series "Dear Future Spouse." These are real people who are writing to their future King and Queen. They do not personally know each other, but they are getting to know each other through the letters. Each week, you will find a response to the letter before. So, grab some coffee, tea, or tissue, and enjoy! Tell us what you think!
Dear Future Husband,
If there was only one thing I could ask of you everyday for the rest of your life, it would not be to love me. There are stages of love, and it’s possible to love someone and still make the wrong decisions. I would not ask you to make love every night. I want that to be a physical manifestation of our appreciation and gratitude for one another and not a chore. Even though I’m sure you hate washing dishes as much as I do, but I won’t even ask you to do that.
I only ask that after God, you put me first. The rest to some may seem simple. Others may view it as self centered, but HUSBAND, you know my heart and you understand the intent of my request. The friends you had before our marriage may not be there, but I will. We will go through job transitions, promotions, demotions, large bonuses earned and large debts to repay. When you put me as your wife first, the decisions you’ll be making will be in my best interest. There will be no reason to nag or complain, and I can be at ease knowing you are leading me and the family in the right direction.
HUSBAND, I understand relationships are about give and take and as selfless as you may be, in the back of your mind you might ask WIFE, what’s in it for me? Well my sweet King, here’s what’s in it for you:
– You can go to sleep every night knowing someone is praying for your health, strength, and wisdom since you are carrying such a heavy load leading our family.
– You can awake each morning knowing that I’m a text message away when your boss works every good nerve you have left.
– Most importantly, you can be at peace in knowing even when we are having our worst fights, i’m here, and I’m not going anywhere.
You are no longer in the world wondering whose really got your back because you have found your wife. You have found your good thing. You have found favor in the Lord.
Your Queen,
Deb
