To Him: Part 26

Welcome to Part 26 of the series "Dear Future Spouse." These are real people who are writing to their future King and Queen. They do not personally know each other, but they are getting to know each other through the letters. Each week, you will find a response to the letter before. So, grab some coffee, tea, or tissue, and enjoy! Tell us what you think!

Dear Future Husband,

It’s truly a pleasure to see you quote scripture and show how it’s applicable to today’s world. I’m currently doing a daily devotional on the Bible app called “The Bible Matters Because_____,” and it is 3 weeks of showing how centuries later, the Bible truly is still relevant to our lives. I’d like to encourage you to continue doing what you’re doing because it will draw people to you. I hope your connecting the Bible’s teachings in a relatable way will show others just how genuine (and non-judgmental) Christians have the capacity of being.

As I read your list of goals that you hope to achieve next year, they all seem attainable. I know the road to get you to each of them may not be exactly how you wanted them to arrive, but the testimony that will come out of it may be greater than anything else. Last night, I was at a mentoring event at my alma mater, and an amazing woman said she was at a crossroads in her career, and God asked her, “What’s more important, success or significance?” She chose the latter which came with a less glamorous career but a greater impact on her friends, family, and community.

Last month for my birthday, I set the exact number of goals to match my age and broke them down into 4 main categories: Giving, Finance, Self Care, and Travel. These categories were chosen because they are either things I’m passionate about or things I’ve been neglecting but desire to be better at. I’ll spare you the whole list, but here are 2 from each category:

Giving:

  1. Donate purses filled with toiletries to women in need
  2. Donate to Angel Tree or Toys for Tots

Travel:

  1. Hawaii
  2. Take my first solo 3-4 days trip

Self care:

  1. Start back my praying in color journal
  2. Redecorate house to feel more homey

Finance:

  1. Improve credit score
  2. Start investing in company sponsored 401k

When I was younger, my favorite season was summer: it had my birthday month, school was out, warmer weather, and that’s the time we took most of our family vacations. The older I have gotten, I have found a new love for fall/winter: cute sweaters, football, and the most family-oriented holidays. What are some of your favorite traditions from Thanksgiving and Christmas? And what are some new ones you would hope to start with me and our future children? What are some of your favorite holiday dishes? That is actually the most important question because while I know I will never make it like your momma, I need to at least do a few private test runs before I have the nerve to actually make it for you.

I know my closing seems a tad random, but I love to learn about you and what you enjoy every chance I get. As we head into the last quarter of 2017, I pray you are protected and positioned to receive all that you are setting out to accomplish next year.

Love always,

Your Future Wife
